Our Story

Bresil was created out of a need to enjoy design again

I’m Lucy Brazil, an independent, self-funded, first-time founder with almost 20 years’ experience in design and a long-standing passion for product and craft.

After years working within established fashion brands, I slowly fell out of love with the industry. I found the constant need and obsession for the next best thing exhausting. I always thought, what if there was more time, more space to create, time to play and to test ideas properly.

That’s why I began to dream of a slower fashion brand.

So I’ve made the decision to build something of my own, stepping away from boardrooms, layers of approval, and corporate processes, and returning to a more instinctive, hands-on way of designing.

I love all aspects of design, colour, craft, pattern, and artists, and I’m endlessly inspired by the world around me. I’m a little addicted to that feeling of excitement when ideas click into place, when something starts as a spark of inspiration and turns into a sketch, then a bag, then a fully realised product. It’s a magical process, and one I feel lucky to do, and now want to share with you.

At the heart of it all is a simple intention, to create pieces that are truly loved and lived with for years, not just a season.
Designing in a practical and functional way is incredibly important to me. Women carry a lot, and I believe our bags should help lighten that load, not add to it. My aim is to make everyday life feel more organised, more considered, and a little easier, while still being stylish, beautiful, and effortless to wear.
